Construction company Watkin Jones Group has received national recognition for achieving excellent standards in leadership and people development.

Following a 12-month evaluation process involving peer group reviews by industry representatives, Watkin Jones is the first company in Wales to have been awarded full Demonstration Project Status for its staff training and development schemes.

The Demonstration Programme is run by the Welsh Assembly Government funded Constructing Excellence in Wales initiative which aims to promote best practice across the construction industry in Wales.

Watkin Jones Managing Director Mark Watkin Jones said: “The company invests heavily in staff training and people development, and we have developed a range of programmes to ensure that each individual has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

“We are delighted to have achieved Demonstration status, and to gain national recognition for our efforts. We look forward to work alongside Constructing Excellence as part of the Demonstration Programme to share best practice, exchange ideas and improve industry standards in Wales.”

David Clague, Demonstration & Best Practice Director, Constructing Excellence in Wales said: “Demonstration Projects help us to highlight excellence, innovation and good practice and influence industry change. We find that nothing can really compare to highlighting real examples of successful projects.

“Initiatives such as Watkin Jones’ people development programme serve to inspire and assist other companies and organisations within the construction industry to raise their standards, thereby improving performance across the board.”
